Eastern Shore Institute
for Lifelong Learning
at Earth Day Mobile Bay
The
Eastern Shore Institute for Lifelong Learning (ESILL) offers adult classes that are all about enjoyment and self-enrichment. A wide variety of courses is offered, including such things as pine needle basketry, short story writing, southern literature, T’ai Chi, and estate planning. Several ESILL instructors will be demonstrating their course content during the Earth Day celebration. Among the demonstrations will be T’ai Chi Qigong (a method of letting go of pent up tension and stress using breathing to promote a healthier lifestyle, which method the web designer for EDMB needs to learn immediately!), five-string banjo playing, Yoga, and the painting of miniatures.
Founded in 1977, ESILL is a non-profit organization that provides educational programming to students age 12 and over. Three terms are held each year beginning in February, July and September. Course locations now include Fairhope, Daphne and Foley. There are no tests or grades, just fun. ESILL instructors bring a wealth of personal experience and passion for teaching, asking only that students bring interest, enthusiasm, and a willingness to participate.
